Blab With Sandy: Evelyn Sharma
Hey people! What’s up? Evelyn Sharma joins me in this episode of #BlabWithSandy. We blabbed about her acting career, her experience working alongside Prabhas in Saaho, her singing, and her other interests. Let’s wait no longer and dive straight in!
Sandy: Hello Evelyn! How you doing?
Evelyn: Hi Sandy. I’m great! How are you doing?
Sandy: Doing good! Could you let us know about your background?
Evelyn: I was born and brought up in Germany, but my dad is an Indian and my mom is a German. So that makes me Half Indian and Half German.
I ended up coming to India to find my roots and I fell in love with it. Now India is my home though I do miss Germany and of course my mom a lot. I love everything about India and I am so thankful that I have got to fulfill my dreams in this country.
Sandy: You started your acting career with films like Turning Left, From Sydney with Love but you got more fame with your roles in Nautanki Saala, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Yaariyan and others. How do you describe your journey in films with the start that you got and to the point which you have reached as of now?
Evelyn: The industry has been very kind and has accepted me with open hands. I am grateful to Bollywood that after being an outsider I still got to make my presence felt in here. I started off as a model in India and after being spotted in a few ads I started getting many Bollywood offers, which led me to where I am today.
I think my journey in the film industry has been an incredibly pleasant one, and now, to work with some of the best in the business and prepare for my grand entry into the Tollywood industry in the magnum opus Saaho alongside the south superstar Prabhas is just so exciting.
Sandy: Growing up in Germany and then getting a foothold in the Bollywood industry isn’t really an easy task. How difficult or how easy was it for you to adapt to the language diction?
Evelyn: Yes, it isn’t easy and it wasn’t easy for me too. I definitely found it difficult to cope with the language, but I took language classes that helped me get much better but yes as they say learning never ends so I am still learning and getting better at it.
Sandy: Apart from being a model/ actress, you also have a beautiful voice. You did put your voice to use for a music single called ‘Something Beautiful’. I love the number, it’s really very beautiful. Few anecdotes on it.
Evelyn: Thank you so much! Actually, I’m not a singer, but yes, I do enjoy singing sometimes. I didn’t really think I’d get an opportunity to professionally sing a song, to be honest. The whole experience was delightful!

Evelyn: It was the first action role I had ever played. It was a pleasure working with the entire team. Prabhas is a really fun guy and not shy once you get to know him well.
When Saaho had hit the screens, I was super excited about how my fans reacted when they saw me in a new avatar for the very first time.
Sandy: Will we be seeing you sing again for any album/ movie soon? You seem to be equally talented in singing and it gets more important to make strides in that arena too!
Evelyn: If given an opportunity with amazing lyrics then why not? But I would like to focus more on my acting compared to singing.
